The Fauna Sagrantino placemat allows you to change the character of your table by choosing which side of the fabric to feature.
The side with a Sagrantino background and natural linen butterflies has a warm, enveloping quality that works beautifully in refined rustic interiors, country homes and seasonal table settings. The reverse, with Sagrantino butterflies on a natural linen background, feels lighter and more understated, allowing the color to emerge through the woven motif.
When ordering, you can select which side you would like presented as the main face. The placemat remains fully reversible and can be turned over whenever you wish to give your table a different look.
A Pattern Created by Weaving
The butterflies in the Fauna Rustica collection are neither printed nor applied to the surface. They are created directly on the loom through the changing interlacement of the linen threads.
Different areas of the damask reflect the light in contrasting ways, giving the butterfly design depth and a subtle natural sheen. Depending on the angle and the light, the motif may appear more defined or blend softly into the background.
Every placemat is hand-cut from a continuous-pattern fabric. The position of the butterflies therefore varies naturally from one piece to another: some may appear in full, while others may continue beyond the edge of the placemat.
These variations are not imperfections. They are an inherent part of the woven design and artisanal production process. Each placemat has its own individual arrangement of butterflies, so no two pieces will be exactly alike.
