The Fauna Blu Reale Placemat is crafted from pure linen damask woven by Tessitura Pardi and finished in Italy by La Bottega di Casa.
The butterfly motif is not printed. It is formed directly by the weave of the linen threads. The reversible construction offers two distinctive looks: one side features a Royal Blue background with natural linen butterflies, while the reverse displays Royal Blue butterflies against a natural linen ground.
When ordering, you may select the side you would like presented as the main face. The placemat remains fully reversible and can be turned over whenever you wish to change the mood of your table.
Each placemat is cut from a continuous-pattern textile. The position and size of the butterflies will therefore vary naturally, giving every piece its own individual composition.

Butterflies Woven into Pure Linen
Fauna is not a printed textile. Its butterfly motif is formed directly on the loom through the changing interlacement of the linen threads.
The damask weave allows different areas of the fabric to catch and reflect the light in contrasting ways. Turning the placemat over reverses the relationship between the Royal Blue and natural linen, revealing a second interpretation of the same design.
Because the butterflies are part of the structure of the textile rather than a surface print, the motif will not disappear with washing. Pure linen will gradually develop a softer hand while retaining the distinctive texture and luminosity of the damask.
The Fauna textile has a continuous design with butterflies distributed freely across the fabric. Each placemat is cut from a different section, so its composition may vary slightly from the photographs.
