Description

If you have been looking for a floral linen tablecloth that is genuinely abundant — a full summer garden, not a scattered motif — and that can also dress the largest tables in the house, Ibisco is what you are looking for. Great white hibiscus with dark hearts, blue irises, green and white hydrangeas, branches of red and black berries, wisteria, bellflowers — a botanical allover interweaving that covers the entire surface with the generosity of an English garden in July. The palette is unusually rich — white, green, blue, berry red, touches of pink and yellow — but the watercolour brushwork and the natural linen ground keep everything in balance: the result is rich without ever being heavy, floral without being saccharine.

The linen ground emerges between the flowers like light, and the allover design has no direction and no centre: lay it on the table and it works, in any orientation, on any table shape.

As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible — slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.

The fabric: 118`` wide, for the largest tables

The Ibisco fabric is produced by Tessitura Toscana Telerie, one of Italy’s most renowned textile manufacturers, with a fabric width of 300 cm (118″) — a rare width that changes what a tablecloth can be. With this fabric we make very large tablecloths without central seams: up to 290 cm (114″) wide, in any length. And we also make round tablecloths up to 290 cm (114″) in diameter — one of the very few printed tablecloths in our catalogue available round at this scale.

For those with the table of the great occasions — twelve seats, sixteen, the important round table — Ibisco is one of the most complete answers in our collection.

The stain-resistant coated linen version

The same design is also available in stain-resistant coated linen: the coating makes the fabric impervious to stains — wine, oil, and sauce blot away with a cloth without penetrating the fibre. It is the ideal solution for the everyday table with children, for outdoor use, and for those who love florals but not frequent ironing.

Important note: the coated fabric is 170 cm (66″) wide, so the achievable sizes are smaller than with natural linen. In the coated version we offer tablecloths and placemats online.

Style notes

The five photographs tell the versatility of this design better than any description: a classic French dining room with crystal and roses; a Venetian terrace at sunset with the lagoon behind; a contemporary dark-wood kitchen; a Provençal interior with an antique sideboard; a minimal modern dining room. Five worlds — and the Ibisco is at home in all of them.

This is the advantage of well-calibrated multicolour designs: they already contain every tone, so they converse with any room palette. The green picks up plants, the blue picks up skies and cool textiles, the berry red picks up dark woods, the white brightens. A tablecloth that never asks the room to adapt.

Why choose this tablecloth

Because it unites three things that rarely come together: a rich multicolour floral design, the possibility of very large sizes (including round) thanks to the 118″ fabric width, and the stain-resistant coated alternative for everyday use. It is one of the most complete tablecloths in our catalogue — for the holiday table and the daily one alike.

Because it is born from the meeting of two names: the fabric of Tessitura Toscana Telerie, and La Bottega di Casa finishing, with hand-cutting and mitered corners in our atelier in Follina (Treviso).

Complete the table

With a design this rich, restraint is the rule: white or ivory ceramics, transparent crystal, solid linen napkins — white, sage green, or berry red to pick up a tone from the design. The most successful centrepiece is floral and tone-on-tone: pale roses, hydrangeas, wildflowers, as in the photographs.

Avoid saturated colours foreign to the design’s palette.

Frequently asked questions

How large can the Ibisco tablecloth be? The natural linen fabric is 300 cm (118″) wide, so we make tablecloths up to 290 cm (114″) wide in any length — without central seams. It is one of the few printed tablecloths that can dress genuinely large tables with a single panel of fabric.

Is it available in round format? Yes — it is one of the rare printed tablecloths in our catalogue available round at large scale: up to 290 cm (114″) in diameter, made to order, in natural linen.

What is the coated linen version? It is the same design on stain-resistant treated linen: liquids do not penetrate the fibre and blot away with a cloth. Ideal for everyday use, children, and outdoors. The coated fabric is 170 cm (66″) wide, so sizes are smaller; online we offer coated tablecloths and placemats.

What coordinated products exist? Table runners, placemats, and napkins, all in the same Ibisco fabric. Standard sizes are online; custom sizes on request.

What should I pair with a design this rich? Restraint: white ceramics, crystal, solid-colour napkins in the tones of the design (white, sage, berry red). The multicolour design already contains every tone — the rest of the table should accompany it.

Does the print fade with washing? The print on linen is designed to withstand repeated machine washes at 40°C (104°F). Over time the colour acquires a subtle patina consistent with the watercolour aesthetic. Do not bleach.
