Some tablecloths set the table; others transform it. Rio belongs to the second family: an Italian linen tablecloth covered in a joyful, painterly explosion of multicolor blooms — Prussian blues, sunny yellows, fuchsia, coral and leaf green on an ivory ground. It’s the tablecloth of long summer lunches, terrace dinners, and tables that aren’t afraid of color.
Rio was born for outdoor summer tables, but its ivory ground and rich design make it just as beautiful in the dining room, all year round, whenever you want a table that already feels like a celebration.
As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible — slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.
The Rio tablecloth is made by La Bottega di Casa from a fine pure linen cloth by Tessitura Toscana Telerie, a historic Italian weaving mill, printed in Italy. What makes this fabric special is its extraordinary width: 300 cm — 118 inches, which allows us to make very large tablecloths with no center seams.
This is a fully machine washable linen tablecloth: linen improves with every wash, becoming softer, more fluid, more beautiful. A tablecloth made to be used, not stored away.
