Description

If you have been looking for a magnolia linen napkin where every piece is genuinely one of a kind, the Magnolia Rosa is what you are looking for. The napkin is the most intimate format of the line: 15″ x 15″ of linen cut directly from the allover fabric of the Magnolia tablecloth — the same large-scale watercolour, the flowers in dusty pink and deep carmine, the dark green foliage, the grey sketched blooms almost transparent against the ground. At this distance the design reveals every passage of the watercolour: the layered glazes of the petals, the touches of carmine at the tips, the pencil visible beneath the colour.

And because the allover fabric is continuous, with no fixed repeat module, every napkin is different from the next: the cut point determines which flowers appear and in which position. One napkin will show the great open bloom, another the bud with its leaves, a third the balance between full pink and grey sketch. No two Magnolia Rosa napkins are perfectly alike — a set on the table is a flowering branch, where every bloom is its own.

The Magnolia Rosa design is an exclusive La Bottega di Casa creation.

As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible — slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.

Style notes

The napkin is the piece of the table you hold in your hands — and the Magnolia Rosa at arm’s length is at its best: the large scale of the design means that even within 15 inches the flower arrives almost whole, with a presence that small motifs cannot achieve. Folded on the plate, it shows a fragment of the bloom; unfolded on the lap, it reveals the composition.

On the table, Magnolia Rosa napkins give their best in two registers: on a neutral base — a natural white, écru, or grey linen tablecloth — where each napkin is a botanical island at its place; or within the family coordination, with the Magnolia Allover tablecloth or the placemats of the same line, for a table that reads as a single garden.

Why choose this napkin

Because it is one of a kind in the literal sense: cut from the allover fabric, no napkin is identical to another. A set of six is a set of six different compositions of the same flowering tree — coordinated, never the same.

Because the size is flexible: the standard format is 40 x 40 cm / 15″ x 15″, but on request we make larger sizes — for those who love the generous napkin of the serious table. Because linen improves with every wash and a quality napkin lasts for years. And because it is Made in Italy, cut and finished in our atelier in Follina (Treviso).

The Magnolia Rosa family

The napkin belongs to the Magnolia Rosa line, the most complete in our botanical collection: the tablecloth (Magnolia Allover), placemats, table runner, and tea towel all share the same watercolour. Napkins and placemats together, over a solid-colour tablecloth, compose the coordinated table; with the Magnolia Allover tablecloth, the napkin is the finishing touch.

Complete the table

With the Magnolia Allover tablecloth, for the full coordination. Over solid linen tablecloths — natural white, écru, grey — for the botanical island on a neutral ground. With white or ivory ceramics, always.

And for an unexpected pairing: like our Ortensia napkin, the Magnolia Rosa also works magnificently on a dark tablecloth — the barolo from our vintage collection makes the pinks of the design stand out with a contrast of great elegance.

About us and how we work

La Bottega di Casa is an Italian home linen atelier based in Follina (Treviso, Veneto); since 2000, a second store in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, has brought the Italian linen tradition to an international clientele.

The Magnolia Rosa napkin is a La Bottega di Casa branded product: exclusive design, printed on natural linen, hand-cut from the allover fabric in our atelier — and it is the cut from the continuous design that guarantees every napkin is a unique composition.

Frequently asked questions

Why is every napkin different from the next? The napkin is cut from the allover fabric of the Magnolia tablecloth, which has a continuous design with no fixed repeat. The cut point determines which flowers appear: two napkins cut at different points in the fabric will have different compositions. A set on the table has the natural variety of a flowering branch.

Can I order napkins larger than 15″x15″? Yes — we make larger sizes on request, for those who love the generous napkin of the serious table. Contact us with your preferred dimensions.

If I order six, will they all be different? Yes — coordinated in palette, design, and style, but each with its own composition. It is a distinctive feature of the product, not a variable: on the table, the effect is that of real flowers.

Does it coordinate with the other pieces of the Magnolia Rosa line? Yes: the tablecloth, placemats, runner, and tea towel all share the same watercolour. The napkin completes any combination — and it is beautiful on its own too, over a pale solid tablecloth or, for a striking contrast, over the dark barolo of our vintage collection.

Does the print fade with washing? Digital print on linen is designed to withstand repeated machine washes at 40°C (104°F). Over time the colour acquires a subtle patina consistent with the watercolour aesthetic. Do not bleach.
