Emerald green and coral pink — the most romantic contrast in the series.
Parrot 7 brings an unexpected palette to the kitchen: the intense emerald green of an American Amazon parrot and the warm coral pink of Japanese quince flowers. Two colours rarely found together, yet they work with disarming naturalness — as if nature had done the work of a colourist.
The parrot is depicted with the precision of an eighteenth-century European naturalistic engraving: emerald green plumage with turquoise gradations on the chest, yellow patch on the forehead, vivid red eye, grey beak, red and blue stripe on the visible wing. The Japanese quince flowers (Chaenomeles) surrounding him are large and full, with five salmon-pink petals and a yellow centre — a plant that blooms in spring across Europe and Asia, cultivated for centuries in gardens for the beauty of its flowers. The glossy dark green leaves complete the composition with solidity and depth.
Linen — why it is the right fabric for a tea towel
Linen is not just the most beautiful fabric for a tea towel. It is the most suitable one, for concrete reasons.
It absorbs up to 20% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet — it dries glasses and dishes without leaving streaks or lint, something cotton or microfibre fabrics cannot match. It dries quickly, reducing residual moisture and odour. It is naturally antibacterial — linen fibres contain lignin, which inhibits bacterial growth even after repeated washing.
And it improves over time. Every wash softens the fibres without weakening them — after ten washes a linen tea towel is softer, more absorbent and more beautiful than when it was new. Cotton does the opposite: it stiffens, pills, loses colour.
The linen we use for our tea towels is selected from the finest European mills — 100% pure, with no synthetic treatments.
Parrot 7 is the most romantic piece in the series — it works beautifully alone in a kitchen with neutral or natural tones, where the green/coral contrast becomes the visual centre of the space. In composition with Parrot 2 (cool green and blue), it creates a botanical green gallery of great coherence. With Parrot 6 (red-orange), the contrast is maximum and festive.
As a gift: it is the most universally appreciated piece in the series — the green/pink palette works in any kitchen and appeals to anyone who loves flowers.
Amazon parrots (Amazona sp.) are native to the rainforests of Central and South America — among the longest-lived and most intelligent parrots in the world, with lifespans that can exceed seventy years. Their presence in European courts dates back to the sixteenth century, when Spanish and Portuguese navigators brought them as diplomatic gifts of rare value. Eighteenth-century naturalists depicted them with great care, fascinated by the complexity of their green plumage with its accents of colour.
The Japanese quince framing the parrot in this design creates a bridge between two worlds — the tropical American world of the bird and the European and Asian garden of the flower. It is a pairing that the eighteenth-century naturalists would have appreciated: the synthesis of the world in a single composition.
