Parrot 9 is the most complex and architectural composition in the La Bottega di Casa naturalistic series. The ornithological subject is a long-tailed lorikeet — with bicoloured plumage of rare beauty: deep emerald green on the wings, intense midnight blue on the chest and head, bright orange beak, red eye, long green-yellow tail descending downward. The botanical subject is the passionflower — the most architecturally complex flower in the plant world: white and lilac petals, a corona of violet and white filaments with turquoise tips, centre with stamens and pistils arranged in a star.
Three passionflowers in composition, matte dark green leaves, twisted branches. A cool and deep palette — green, midnight blue, violet, white — that belongs to the register of the rare and the precious.
Linen — why it is the right fabric for a tea towel
Linen is not just the most beautiful fabric for a tea towel. It is the most suitable one, for concrete reasons.
It absorbs up to 20% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet — it dries glasses and dishes without leaving streaks or lint, something cotton or microfibre fabrics cannot match. It dries quickly, reducing residual moisture and odour. It is naturally antibacterial — linen fibres contain lignin, which inhibits bacterial growth even after repeated washing.
And it improves over time. Every wash softens the fibres without weakening them — after ten washes a linen tea towel is softer, more absorbent and more beautiful than when it was new. Cotton does the opposite: it stiffens, pills, loses colour.

The passionflower is one of the most studied and depicted flowers in European botanical illustration — not only for its unusual beauty but for its symbolic significance. Sixteenth-century Spanish missionaries named it flos passionis — flower of the passion — seeing in its anatomical elements the symbols of the Passion of Christ. Since then it has become one of the most historically rich subjects in the entire naturalistic illustration repertoire.
The long-tailed lorikeet inhabiting this design was one of the most coveted birds in the great European ornithological collections of the eighteenth century — its green/blue bichromatism was considered among the most extraordinary in the animal world. The naturalists of the period depicted them with an almost obsessive care to capture the transition between the two colours of the plumage.
