The Fauna Sagrantino Table Runner is made from reversible 100% pure linen damask, woven in Umbria by Tessitura Pardi according to Italy’s traditional textile craftsmanship.
The butterfly motif is not printed: it is created directly by the interlacing of the threads. The two faces offer different interpretations of the same design. One side features Sagrantino-colored butterflies against a natural linen ground, while the reverse places the natural butterflies against a wine-toned Sagrantino background.
When ordering, you can select which side you would like presented as the main face. The runner remains fully reversible and can be turned over whenever you wish to change the look of your table.
Every runner is cut from a continuous-pattern fabric, so the placement of the butterflies varies naturally and makes each piece unique. Available in standard and custom sizes.

A Reversible Runner in Warm, Wine-Inspired Tones
The Fauna Sagrantino Table Runner interprets the butterfly motif through a warm, nuanced color inspired by the celebrated Umbrian wine from which it takes its name.
One face displays Sagrantino-colored butterflies against the natural linen background. Turn the runner over and the color relationship is reversed: the wine-toned ground becomes more prominent while the natural butterflies appear lighter.
When ordering, you may select which side you would like presented as the main face. The runner remains fully reversible, allowing you to move from a lighter, more natural composition to a richer and more enveloping look simply by turning it over.
Butterflies Created by the Weave
The Fauna motif is not printed or applied to the surface. Its butterflies are created directly on the loom through the changing interlacement of the linen threads.
The damask weave allows different areas of the textile to reflect light in contrasting ways, bringing either the background or the butterfly motif into greater prominence. Because the design forms part of the fabric’s structure, it will not disappear with washing.
Over time, pure linen develops a progressively softer hand while retaining the depth and characteristic sheen of traditional damask.
The butterflies are distributed freely across a continuous-pattern fabric. Each runner is cut from a different section of the textile, so the position and sequence of the motifs will never be exactly the same.
Your runner may therefore show a slightly different butterfly arrangement from the photographs. This natural variation is part of the design and gives every piece its own individual composition.
The Sagrantino palette combines wine red, soft berry and dusty rose tones, bringing warmth to the table without appearing overly formal. The runner can be placed directly on a wood, stone or glass tabletop or layered over a solid-color tablecloth.
On antique wood, it creates a warm and textural composition. Over a white, ivory or natural linen tablecloth, the woven butterflies appear brighter. A taupe or gray base produces a quieter, more contemporary contrast.
