Natural unbleached linen napkins are the most immediate and most successful pairing — the raw linen echoes the ground of the tablecloth without adding colour. For those who want to bring the tones of the design into the table setting, slate blue or ochre napkins work beautifully. White ceramics are always the safest choice; stoneware with a pale slip glaze adds warmth without competing.
Pansée works very well with the double tablecloth technique: used as the upper printed layer over a grey or écru vintage linen base, it allows the base to show in the side drop with a very natural layering effect. Grey vintage linen is the most harmonious base — its cool undertone echoes the blues of the design and amplifies them quietly.

What is the difference between Pansée and Pansée Allover? Pansée features the design in two horizontal bands — one across the top of the cloth and one across the bottom — with natural linen visible in the centre. Pansée Allover has the motif distributed continuously across the entire surface. Pansée is more structured and compositional; Allover is freer and more enveloping. Pansée is available in rectangular formats only; Pansée Allover is also available as a round linen tablecloth up to 67″ in diameter.
Does the print fade with washing? Digital print on linen is designed to withstand repeated machine washes at 40°C (104°F). Over time the colour acquires a subtle patina consistent with the watercolour aesthetic — not a flaw, but part of the character of the cloth. Do not bleach.
