A graphic table runner inspired by marine life
The Polipo linen-cotton table runner is defined by an expressive octopus design that extends along the length of the fabric. Sweeping tentacles and finely drawn details recall antique natural-history illustrations and engravings, reinterpreted through a distinctly contemporary eye.
Its restrained palette makes the artwork dramatic yet surprisingly versatile. Black, charcoal and soft gray stand out against the ivory ground and pair naturally with wood, stone and quiet neutral interiors, without requiring an elaborate table setting.
What distinguishes this Italian linen-cotton table runner with octopus design is also the fabric beneath the print. The 50% linen and 50% cotton base is woven in a tone-on-tone jacquard with subtle abstract motifs. Because the artwork is printed over an already textured surface, the underlying weave continues to appear through the image and creates a delicate sense of depth.
The collection brings together the vision of a Bologna-based artist duo and the textile expertise of L’Arcolaio, which produces the jacquard fabric, executes the digital printing and makes the finished runner in Italy.
The 19.7″ × 63″ size is designed for the center of a rectangular table, with the two ends falling naturally over the edges. On a longer table, it can also be displayed entirely across the tabletop.
Use it directly over wood for a clean, graphic presentation or layer it over a solid-color tablecloth. Gray, charcoal, ivory and black are especially effective because they echo the colors of the artwork without competing with it.
Complete the table with solid linen napkins, white or ivory porcelain, clear or pale green glassware and simple, well-proportioned accessories.
The Polipo Table Runner is available exclusively in the 19.7″ × 63″ / 50 × 160 cm size and cannot be custom-made.
It belongs to the same collection as the Octopus Linen-Cotton Tablecloth and offers a way to introduce the original artwork on a smaller table or in settings where part of the tabletop should remain visible.
La Bottega di Casa is rooted in a long family tradition of fine household linens and textiles. Alongside the collections made in our own Italian atelier, we select pieces from other Italian manufacturers when they reflect the same respect for materials, skilled workmanship and authentic production.
The Polipo Table Runner is produced by L’Arcolaio and offered by La Bottega di Casa as part of our curated collection of Made in Italy table linens.
