Linen Tablecloth Abstract
$265.89 – $295.11Price range: $265.89 through $295.11
This abstract print linen tablecloth — the Abstract Tablecloth — is made from 100% linen with a digital print designed by L’Arcolaio, a mill from Abruzzo that we select for the quality of its design and its materials.
The motif is a band of color that runs across the fabric like a brushstroke, with fine ink-like marks in contrast. Warm, between ochre yellow and brown, in the Giallo AB colorway. Mineral, between light grey and near-black, in the Grigio AB colorway.
Simple machine-stitched hem, available in two sizes — 67″x110″ and 67″x126″ (170x280cm and 170x320cm) — and sold individually. We pair the warm version with Panna, Honey Gold or Tortora linen napkins; the cool version with Grigio Perla or Panna. Not sure which one to pick? We’ll put it together for you.

A brushstroke of color, not a repeating print
Most printed tablecloths repeat a motif across the whole surface. This one doesn’t. The Abstract design runs across the fabric like one wide brushstroke, leaving the rest of the linen open and natural — closer to a textile artwork than to an all-over pattern.
That’s also why it works on a table that’s already busy: the color is there, but it doesn’t take over.
The design
The composition is a horizontal band of color cutting across the cloth, layered with fine ink-like marks — thin lines, almost freehand — standing out against the background.
In the Giallo AB colorway the band runs warm: ochre yellow fading into burnt brown, with darker ink marks in the foreground. In Grigio AB, the same idea repeats in a cooler key: light grey deepening to near-black, with the same kind of graphic mark as a counterpoint.
As with all natural linen products, small fibre irregularities may be visible — slubs, weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.
On a print like this one, those irregularities show a bit more where the natural white ground is left uncovered: they’re part of the fabric’s texture, not a flaw in the print.
The fabric: pure linen, digitally printed linen tablecloth
The base is 100% linen. The abstract print uses digital printing, which is what makes the soft gradients in the color band possible along with the fine detail in the ink-like marks — a result a traditional block print wouldn’t achieve in the same way.
The design is by L’Arcolaio, an artisan mill in Abruzzo that we select for the way it blends natural materials with a contemporary graphic language. It isn’t one of our own designs: it’s one of the mills we choose, one by one, to round out our table linen offering.
The workmanship
The hem is simple and machine-stitched: a clean, quiet finish that keeps the attention on the print.
The cloth comes in two fixed sizes — 67″x110″ and 67″x126″ (170x280cm and 170x320cm) — sized for extended tables. We don’t make this design to measure, and there’s currently no round version.
- One design, two moods: the same composition in a warm colorway (Giallo AB) or a cool one (Grigio AB), for two very different tables.
- Not an all-over repeat: the color band leaves the rest of the linen open, so the print never crowds the table.
- Pure 100% linen, with a digital print that renders both soft gradients and fine detail well.
- A design by L’Arcolaio, an artisan mill in Abruzzo that we select for the strength of its ideas.
- Easy to style: with the right solid napkins, the print stays the star without needing anything else.
- Two sizes built for extended tables, 67″x110″ and 67″x126″ (170x280cm and 170x320cm).
The service we’ve always offered in the shop
In our shops in Follina and San Miguel de Allende, this is the best part of the job: taking a tablecloth with a strong print, trying three different sets of napkins, and finding with the customer the one that lights up the table without overloading it.
We don’t work in closed collections. We work in combinations. Our exclusive prints — like Magnolia and Nopal — are drawn in our own atelier in Follina; designs like this Abstract one come instead from Italian mills we select one by one, like L’Arcolaio. Putting them on the table alongside our own solids is the whole point of what we do.
On a tablecloth that’s already printed like this one, the simplest way to finish the table isn’t to layer another print over it: it’s choosing the right napkins for a printed tablecloth — solid color ones that pick up one of the tones in the color band.
Giallo AB colorway: tonal and contrast napkins
The ochre yellow and brown of the band have three natural matches among our solid color Vintage linen napkins:
- Honey Gold napkins, for the most direct tone-on-tone match: they pick up the ochre in the band and carry it across the whole table.
- Tortora napkins, for a softer contrast: the warm grey of Tortora brings the print’s intensity down a notch and makes it more everyday.
- Panna napkins, for the most neutral route: they leave the print as the only spot of color and open the table up toward the light.
Grigio AB colorway: mineral and neutral napkins
On the grey-to-black band, the pairings shift register:
- Grigio Perla napkins, for the tonal route: they connect the cloth to the lightest marks in the band, for a textural, coherent table.
- Panna napkins, for the simplest contrast: they lighten the table and bring out the darkest part of the print.
Not sure how to put it together?
Write to us. Tell us which of the two colorways you’re leaning toward and how you picture the table, and we’ll put together a proposal with napkins and tableware. It’s the service we’ve been offering in the shop for twenty years, and going online didn’t change it.
Available sizes
Rectangular
---
67″ × 110″ (170 × 280 cm)
67″ × 126″ (170 × 320 cm)
This large rectangular linen tablecloth isn’t available in a round version or made to measure: the two sizes above are the only ones we carry. For tables that need different measurements, take a look at our La Bottega di Casa tablecloths, which can also be made to order.
Wash it the same way you’d wash our other linen tablecloths: machine wash at 105°F (40°C), no tumble dry.
For washing a colorful linen tablecloth without altering its tones, avoid bleach and harsh detergents. For a crisper table, steam iron while the linen is still slightly damp; for a more relaxed look, let it air dry. All our advice is on the cleaning instructions page.
La Bottega di Casa began in Follina, in the Prosecco Hills north of Venice. Since the early 2000s we’ve also had a shop in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and we ship worldwide.
We do two things. In our own atelier we design and make the La Bottega di Casa collections: exclusive prints, hand cutting, mitered corners, sizes on request. And we select — one by one — the Italian mills hand-selected one by one that we love: among them, L’Arcolaio, the Abruzzo mill behind the Abstract design.
We don’t sell closed collections. Our work is bringing together fabrics made by different hands — our own and those of the mills we choose — and making them work on the same table.
What is the Abstract Tablecloth made of? 100% linen, with a digital abstract print designed by L’Arcolaio, an artisan mill in Abruzzo.
What napkins go with a yellow and brown printed tablecloth? If you mean the Giallo AB colorway, Honey Gold solid color Vintage linen napkins for a tonal match, Tortora for a softer contrast, or Panna for the most neutral option.
What napkins go with a grey and black printed tablecloth? If you mean the Grigio AB colorway, Grigio Perla for a tonal match, or Panna for a sharper contrast that brings out the print.
Should I choose the yellow or the grey Abstract tablecloth? It depends on the table. Giallo AB warms up neutral rooms or spaces with a lot of light wood; Grigio AB suits more minimal or contemporary tables, and pairs more easily with dark tableware. The design is identical — only the color register changes.
Is it available round or made to measure? No. This design only comes in two rectangular sizes, 67″x110″ and 67″x126″ (170x280cm and 170x320cm).
Do you need to iron a printed linen tablecloth? Not necessarily. It can be used with its natural creases; for a smoother look, steam iron while the fabric is still slightly damp.
How do you wash a colorful linen tablecloth without fading it? Machine wash at 105°F (40°C), the same as our other linen tablecloths, avoiding bleach and harsh detergents — the most common cause of fading.
Is an artistic linen tablecloth right for a modern table? Yes: the color band and ink-like marks read as contemporary graphic design, which is exactly why we often recommend it for minimal or contemporary tables, especially in the Grigio AB colorway.
Can you choose the pairing for me? Yes, and it’s free. Tell us which colorway you prefer and how you picture the table, and we’ll put together a proposal with napkins and tableware.
