The sea, laid across the table.
The Fondale is a tablecloth that brings the whole of summer with it — all of it, without
reservation. Red starfish with white spots, orange coral, watercolour algae in green and
turquoise on a natural white linen ground: a marine seabed painted in watercolour at macro
scale, with the chromatic generosity that only the sea possesses. The design covers the
entire surface in a high-impact allover — there is no neutral corner, no resting point. It is a
tablecloth that sets the atmosphere of the table before anyone sits down.
The watercolour technique allows the white of the linen to show through the colour fields —
the red of the starfish is brilliant but never heavy, the green of the algae luminous as light on
water. The result is a design full of light, not weight.
The Fondale tells the story of a seabed through its most iconic and colourful
inhabitants: the starfish — large, red, with five arms dotted in white — is the main subject,
accompanied by branches of orange coral and green and aquamarine algae in free, organic
forms. Every element is rendered with the spontaneity of watercolour: softened edges,
colour overlaps, uneven washes that simulate the way light moves underwater.
This is not a repeating pattern — it is a unique composition that reads like a landscape, not a
decorative motif.
The Fondale is the outdoor summer tablecloth — perfect on a raw wood table
on a terrace, on a stone counter in a garden, on any surface that breathes air and light. The
natural white linen ground keeps it legible even in full sun. With simple white ceramic or
terracotta tableware, the design comes forward with force. With coloured tableware, choose
tones that echo just one colour from the pattern — the turquoise, the red, or the green — to
avoid visual confusion.
Available in multiple sizes.
With solid colours napkins → The Fondale’s allover pattern calls for solid napkins — one
colour taken from the design, not all of them at once. Natural white or écru for lightness.
Coral red to echo the starfish. Turquoise or aqua green for the algae. Midnight blue for a
striking marine contrast.
With printed napkins → Best avoided — the allover pattern is already a complete
composition. A printed napkin would create visual noise rather than dialogue.
