A damask that doesn’t raise its voice
Some tablecloths announce themselves; others are noticed later, when someone runs a hand across the cloth. Aphrodite is the second kind: a classic pattern — the diamonds of a damask weave — taken out of its usual color. No ceremonial white, no trousseau écru. A grey-taupe that reads almost like a solid at first glance, and gives up its pattern only when the light catches it at an angle.
The design
The damask draws a band of diamonds through the center of the cloth, exactly where the eye settles: the motif at the center, a clear field toward the edges for plates and glasses. It’s a classic design reinterpreted in an untraditional color — a grey taupe damask tablecloth made for elegant, modern interiors rather than for the formal table of another era. The edge is closed with a small fringe, which softens the border and lets the cloth fall without stiffness.
