The service we’ve always offered in the shop

In our shops in Follina and San Miguel de Allende, we build tables piece by piece: a solid base, an exclusive print on top, different napkins tried until one feels right.

We don’t work in closed collections. We work in combinations. Ortensia, Aloe and Magnolia Bianca are designs born in our own atelier; our solids come from the Italian mills we select one by one. It’s mixing them that produces a table that doesn’t look like anyone else’s.

And ivory, in that game, is the wild card: ivory table linens are the ones that never clash, whatever you put next to them.

The solid-color set

The simplest route, and it never misses.

• Tonal Panna linen napkins, the natural match for this cloth, for a textural table with no contrast at all.
• Old Rose or Lavanda napkins, for a soft, almost pastel contrast.
• Barolo napkins, for a warmer table, closer to late fall.
• Tortora napkins, staying within the same neutral family but with more depth.

Layering: the double tablecloth

A shorter cloth laid over a solid base leaves a frame of color showing around the edge: two fabrics, one table. Ivory is the most absorbent base we make, because it adds no temperature of its own to whatever print sits on top.

With the Ortensia Tablecloth, our own exclusive creation — two horizontal bands of watercolor hydrangeas in pink, dusty mauve and cream white, with dark green leaves, and natural linen showing through the center. Over ivory, the print loses any hardness: Ortensia’s natural ground and the ivory base nearly blend, and the flowers are left to carry the table on their own. It’s a quieter pairing than it sounds on paper — it works better than a paler base, which tends to “bleach” the print. (Ortensia comes in rectangular sizes only, so plan the layering on Panna’s rectangular sizes, not the round.)

A touch of color in the napkins

• With Aloe Napkins, our own exclusive design — four different botanical illustrations of coral-red aloe flowers on green leaves, with the plant’s silhouette echoed in pale grey in the background. Over ivory, the coral red lifts without ever turning loud — the easiest way to bring color to an otherwise all-neutral table, any season.

For a refined Christmas

• With Magnolia Bianca Napkins, our own exclusive design — white magnolias, pine branches and green berries in watercolor on an ivory ground, four different compositions, sold individually. It’s the most refined holiday pairing we offer: the napkin’s ground is nearly the same ivory as the cloth, so the print reads as if it were painted straight onto the table. No red, no bright green — an elegant Christmas, not a loud one.

Tableware, glass and centerpieces

• Tableware: white or ivory porcelain, natural stoneware, sand-toned handmade ceramics, matte black plates for a sharper contrast.
• Glass and metals: clear crystal, amber glass, antique silver, matte brass.
• Centerpieces: olive branches, ivory or coral dried flowers, pale ceramics, natural wax candles.
• Rooms: light wood, limewashed plaster, natural stone, cream white walls.

With a warm neutral like this there’s almost no margin for error: it’s the cloth we recommend to anyone who wants an elegant table without overthinking it.

Standard sizes

Made to measure — we make this made-to-measure ivory tablecloth in any length and any diameter, up to a maximum width or diameter of 106″ (270 cm). Lead times are confirmed at the time of order and are normally no more than 10 days. Full details on our custom made items page.

For a quote we need three things: the shape of your table, the measurements of the top (or the diameter), and the drop you’d like. If you’re unsure about the drop, tell us — we’ll work it out.

This is a low-maintenance linen tablecloth — use it with its natural creases if you like. Machine wash at 105 °F (40 °C). Do not tumble dry.

For a crisper table, steam iron while the linen is still slightly damp. For a more relaxed one, let it air dry: on ivory the creases show even less than on pure white.

Avoid harsh detergents and bleach, which would yellow the tone rather than brighten it. All our advice is on the cleaning instructions page.

La Bottega di Casa began in Follina, in the Prosecco Hills north of Venice. Since the early 2000s we’ve also had a shop in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and we ship worldwide.

We do two things. In our own atelier we design and make the La Bottega di Casa collections: exclusive prints like Ortensia, Aloe and Magnolia, hand cutting, mitered corners, sizes on request. And we select — one by one — the Italian mills we love: solid linen from Northern Italy, the handlooms of the other weavers we work with.

We’re an Italian linen tablecloth atelier, but the real work is something else: bringing together fabrics made by different hands and making them work on the same table. We don’t sell closed collections. We build tables.

What is the Vintage Panna Tablecloth made of? 100% stonewashed linen, woven by an outstanding mill in Northern Italy and finished in our atelier in Follina, near Treviso.

Is ivory too close to white for a tablecloth? No — it’s a warm ivory, not white in disguise. It carries a warmer undertone that shows next to pure white, and that’s exactly what makes it feel more welcoming under candlelight or in the evening.

What napkins go with an ivory tablecloth? Almost anything. Tonal Panna linen napkins for a matching look. Old Rose or Lavanda for a soft contrast. Aloe napkins for a touch of color. Magnolia Bianca napkins for the holidays.
