The blue of the Mediterranean — and then the labradorite changes everything.
Cobalt is an intense, saturated blue, warm, with that direct luminosity that belongs to the August sky above the sea. This is not a cold blue or a nocturnal one: it is the blue of southern Italian ceramic tiles, of painted windows in Puglia, of fishermen and sailing boats. On pure linen — with the irregular texture that catches the light differently with every fold — this colour has an immediate vitality.

Labradorite is one of the most fascinating hardstones in nature — grey and almost unremarkable in diffuse light, but with flashes of iridescent colour that appear when light strikes it directly. This effect is called labradorescence, produced by the internal structure of the stone refracting light differently depending on the angle. No two labradorite spheres are identical — the reflections differ, the intensity differs, the colours differ.
