If you have been looking for a fruit-themed tablecloth where the design is woven into the fabric itself — not printed on its surface — the Fruit jacquard is what you are looking for. This tablecloth belongs to a different family from our botanical prints: here the jacquard weave interlaces the linen and cotton yarns according to the design itself, and the motif emerges from the very structure of the cloth. Ripe pears on their branches, whole and sectioned figs, elderflower blossoms, leaves crossed by their veins — all rendered in the style of antique botanical engraving, with the dense, precise hatching of nineteenth-century plates.
Jacquard gives the design a quality no print can replicate: the motif has relief, changes with the light, can be felt under the fingers. The surface of the tablecloth is alive — from some angles the design emerges sharply, from others it melts into the ground like a watermark. And the linen-cotton blend unites the character of linen with the softness and stability of cotton: a smoother, more composed cloth that irons easily and falls in an orderly drape.
The fabric comes from a fine textile manufacturer in northern Italy, among the excellences of Italian jacquard weaving, and is made into tablecloths by La Bottega di Casa in our atelier in Follina (Treviso).
Available in two colours: black — the design in dark grey and anthracite on a pale ground, graphic and assertive — and natural — tone-on-tone beige, soft and discreet, where the motif reveals itself in the light like a damask.
As with all natural fibre products, small yarn irregularities may be visible — weave variations, slight differences in thread thickness. These are not flaws: they are the signature of natural fabric, and part of what gives the cloth its character.
The two colourways are two tablecloths with different personalities.
Black — in the first image, on an outdoor table with hills in the background — is the graphic choice: the dark hatching of pears and branches on a pale ground has the force of a framed engraving. It works surprisingly well outdoors, where the contrast with the green of nature makes it stand out, and it is magnificent in contemporary interiors, where black and white is a native language.
Natural — in the second image, with fresh figs on the table echoing the figs woven into the cloth — is the tonal choice: the design barely rises from the ground, revealing itself up close and in raking light. This is the tablecloth of quiet elegance — the one that does not declare itself but lets itself be discovered. With real fruit on the table — figs, pears, grapes — the conversation between the fabric and nature is immediate.
In both colours, Frutta is an autumn tablecloth by vocation — the season of pears and figs — but the botanical engraving register makes it right for the whole year.

In jacquard, the design is created during the weaving itself, by interlacing the threads according to the motif: the design is in the structure of the fabric, has a subtle relief you can feel, changes with the light, and lasts as long as the cloth — it does not fade and does not wear off the surface.
