CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Linen that is well looked after will last for years.
  • All our products are treated to help control shrinkage. However, a slight shrinkage of about 5 % is normal after the first wash.
  • We do not recommend tumble-drying as this tends to weaken the fibres and fade the fabric.
  • Treating a stain as quickly as possible will prevent it from hardening as it dries. A little water and soap are usually enough.
  • Before using for the first time, we recommend soaking the article in cold water without laundry detergent. Soaking in clean water removes the finish on the fabric and prevents stains from adhering to the fabric.

COLOURED LINEN:

  • Normal 40°-50° wash.
  • Do not put in your washing machine folded items.
  • For stubborn stains, apply a stain remover before washing or rub the stain with soap before washing a second time (40°- 50° wash).
  • Iron at high temperature with steam, ideally while still slightly damp.

WHITE LINEN:

  • Wash at 40° or 60° depending on degree of staining.
  • Use a special stain remover before washing, if necessary.
  • For stubborn stains, add bleach to the washing water, taking care not to exceed the specified amounts.
  • Iron at high temperature with steam, ideally while still slightly damp.

HOW TO REMOVE STAINS:

Red wine : mop up the spilt wine as soon as possible using a paper towel or white cloth, soak the stain in white wine or 60° alcohol, avoid salt which can damage the fabric, and wash your tablecloth as soon as possible after the meal. If you do not wash it immediately, leave the stain to soak in cold water.
Coloured stains (red fruits, lipstick, pollen) : for fruit stains, firstly rinse in cold water. Dab with a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol to remove most of the staining, then rub the stain with washing-up liquid, rinse in cold water and only then wash in the machine.
Candle wax : Scrape off as much candle wax from the tablecloth as possible. Roll the cloth between the fingers to squeeze out any wax that has penetrated the fabric. Stretch the stained fabric taut under the hot tap. The hot water will penetrate the fabric and melt the wax. You can then wash your tablecloth.
Tea : Quickly soak the stain in sparkling water and wash the tablecloth as soon as possible before the stain dries. Tea has strong staining properties and is difficult to remove once the stain has dried.
Fat : Rub the stain with soap or a stain remover before washing the tablecloth at 60°.
