Mezzeri (linen cloths)

The mezzero (linen cloth) is a typical hand-printed cotton fabric, originally from India. Arrives in Italy in the mid-1600s with the merchants of the Compagnia delle Indie. In 1700 it becomes the protagonist of women’s clothing: it is used as a mantle by nobility and is a sign of wealth and opulence.

More ahead it becomes a furnishing textile and is still used as a bedspread, to brighten up a sofa, as a tablecloth or to take to the countryside for a picnic on the lawns.

Versatile and colorful, it adapts to a thousand occasions and brightens our homes. And can be a beautiful gift.

Our “mezzeri”  are all printed on linen.
